REMEMBER CAMP FORMS AND PAYMENT ARE DUE AT THIS MEETING! Please bring a check payable to Pack 184 and
all money from the sale of camp cards (and unsold cards). ALSO last call for coloring books
if you forgot to bring yours to the last pack meeting.
Swim Test for Summer Camp Attendees:
Both scouts and parents can attend the Troop 99 BSA Swim
Test at Manheim Township High School this Friday,
4/22 at 6:30PM. This will save a
lot of time at camp if you have this done ahead of time. Please come in your swim suit (locker rooms
are available to change, if needed) and be aware that the boy scouts are also planning
to do swim tests and other aquatic activities for their rank, so we will have
to wait our turn. We really appreciate
them opening up this opportunity to us!
See below for details on the swimmer’s tests:
SWIMMER’S TEST: Jump
feet first into water over the head in depth, level off, and begin swimming.
Swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes:
sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy
resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at
least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating. BEGINNER’S
TEST: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth, level off, swim 25
feet on the surface, stop, turn sharply, resume swimming as before, and return
to starting place.
NOTE: If your scout does not
pass either test, it doesn’t mean they won’t be allowed to participate in any water
activities, but they will be required to wear life vests and/or may have
restrictions on the area of the pool that they are allowed in, for their
safety.
DON'T FORGET GOGGLES AND A TOWEL!
